Global Health Passport, LLC was founded in 2016, and is a U.S. based company. At the onset, we realized that international travelers needed an extra layer of medical protection when traveling abroad to decrease the possibility of medical errors and miscommunication as a result of language barriers. We offer this product as a hardcopy rather than as a digital app based product because we feel that a hardcopy product cannot be hacked, and your personal medical information is therefore more secure and protected. The Global Health Passport does provide a way for you to affix a passport sized photo, if you choose to do so, which may help medical personnel abroad to identify you, but otherwise the booklets provide no personally identifying information, such as your name. or your personal email or phone number. Whether you're traveling to Asia, Latin America, Africa, the Middle East, or Europe for business, leisure, missionary work, study abroad programs, or simply visiting family and friends anywhere abroad, you can take a Global Health Passport along with you in your journeys. In essence, it's like having your own personal doctor traveling with you during your trip. We strive to help and protect you.
I was traveling in Fortaleza, Brazil a few years ago, when I walked into a very cool art shop. The walls of this shop were covered with vibrant and beautiful art work from local artists, and I was instantly captivated. I approached one attendant at this shop to inquire about the art pieces, thinking that I could use Spanish in order to communicate with her. I thought that I could get by in Spanish since Portuguese is a similar language, but boy was I wrong! I soon realized that I couldn't communicate with anyone in the shop, either in Spanish or in English. As a physician, I immediately thought: What if I have a medical emergency in Brazil where I can't communicate my past medical history or my real time current symptoms? That's when the idea for this company was born. Our mission is to contribute to sustainable and inspiring world travel, and to increase human connectivity by breaking down barriers of communication. We sought to create a product that empowers the traveler by removing the vulnerability that we all face and feel in a country where we don't speak their language and they don't speak ours.
